Alabama legalized medical cannabis on May 6, 2021. While the licensing process has been stalled by legal battles, as of January 2026 cultivator, processor, dispensary, transporter, and testing laboratory licenses have been approved and the first medical cannabis dispensary opened on June 4, 2026.
